How to Win at Craps in 5 Minutes

How to Win at Craps in 5 Minutes

Craps evolved from the English dice game Hazard, which was mentioned as far back as Geoffrey Chaucer’s 14th century masterpiece, The Canterbury Tales. The rules have changed substantially in the intervening centuries, but the ultimate goal of winning money has remained the same. In this post, I won’t just tell you how to win at craps. I’ll show you how to do it in less than five minutes.

Sound like a bold claim?

So many players are intimidated by the modern craps table.

But I stand by my statement.

Once you understand the rules and know about the various betting options, you’ll come to realize that there’s nothing to be scared of.

And once your fear is gone, you can start concentrating on more important things–like winning money.

In fairness, I should also mention that there are plenty more craps tips and strategies where these came from. If you want to get serious about winning at craps, I suggest learning as many of these as possible and practicing every chance you get.

Don’t forget that most online casino software has a free version available to players, so there’s no excuse for not honing your skills.

Know the Betting Options

If you want to be successful at craps, you first need to know the various betting options. You have plenty to choose from. This can often be overwhelming for some beginning players.

The following list includes the most common bets for craps, as the majority of these are resolved with a single roll of the dice:

  • Pass/Come – On the come out roll, this wager wins on a 7 or 11. If the point has been established, the point must be rolled again before a 7 comes up. Pays even odds with a house edge of 1.41%.
  • Don’t Pass/Don’t Come – Wins on a 2 or 12 on the come out roll or a 7 once the point has been established. Pays even money with a house edge of 1.36%.
  • Pass Odds/Come Odds – Once the point is established, this wager wins if the point is rolled before a 7. The house edge is 0%, and the odds depend on the point (2:1 for 4 or 10; 3:2 for 5 or 9; and 6:5 for 6 or 8).
  • Don’t Pass Odds/Don’t Come Odds – Once the point is established, the player wins if a 7 is rolled. If the point is rolled, then the player loses. Carries a 0% house edge and pays either 1:2, 2:3, or 5:6 odds.
  • Yo 11 – Pays on a roll of 11 with a payout of 15:1 odds and an 11.11% house edge.
  • Twelve – Pays if a 12 is rolled with a payout of 30:1 odds and a 13.89% house edge.
  • Two – Pays on a roll of 2 with a 30:1 payout and a house edge of 13.89%.
  • Three– Player wins on a roll of 3 with a 15:1 payout and an 11.11% house edge.
  • Craps – Player wins of a 2, 3, or 12 is rolled. The wager pays at 7:1 odds with an 11.11% house edge.
  • Hi-Lo – Player wins on a roll of 2 or 12 with a 15:1 odds payout and house edge of 11.11%.
  • Field – Pays if one of the following numbers is rolled: 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, or 12. Any other number is a loss. Payout odds depend on the number wagered on but include the following: 1:1, 2:1, and 3:1. House edge is 2.78%.
  • Any 7 – Wins if a 7 is rolled and loses on any other number. Pays at 4:1 odds with a house edge of 16.67%.
  • C & E – Player wins on a 2, 3, 11, or 12. Pays 3:1 on a 2, 3, or 12 and 7:1 on an 11. House edge is 11.11%.
  • The Horn – Pays on a roll of 2, 3, 11, or 12. Payout odds are 27:4 on a 2 or 12 and 3:1 on 3 or 11. House edge is 12.5%.
  • World – Pays on a roll of 2, 3, 7, 11, or 12. Pays 26:5 odds on a 2 or 12, 11:5 on a 3 or 11, and a push on a 7. House edge is 13.33%.
Know the Combinations

The payout odds are determined by the frequency in which certain dice combinations appear. By learning which numbers are most likely to get rolled, you can make the most informed betting decisions possible.

The numbers least likely to turn up are 2 and 12, as there’s only one possible combination for each. They’re closely followed by 3 and 11, as each of these only has two possibilities apiece.

IIf you want to maximize your chances of winning, the numbers to concentrate on are 6, 7, and 8. While the 6 and 8 each have five possible combinations, the 7 is most common with six combinations. The latter explains why most rolls of 7 results in a loss, although experienced bettors realize that a 7 can also result in a win if you make the right wager.

The Best Bet in the Casino

If you want to take advantage of the best wager in most casinos, then you’ll need to learn about “Pass Odds.” Here’s how it works: If the shooter establishes a point on their come-out roll, pass line players are allowed to take odds by wagering a multiple of the pass line bet. This bet wins if the point is rolled before a 7, and it pays the following true odds: 2:1 for a 4 or 10, 3:2 for a 5 or 9, and 6:5 for a 6 or 8.

Taking the odds comes with a 0% house edge, so the player is usually limited to how much he can wager compared to his Pass bet. Casinos vary in the maximum odds offered on this bet, with some going as high as 100x. The most common, however, is “3-4-5X odds,” which means the player can bet up to three times his Pass bet on a point of 4 or 10, four times after a 5 or 9, or five times after a 6 or 8.

IIf you want to win in a hurry while playing craps, this is the wager to pick. It’s routinely referred to by experts as the best bet in the casino, and the 0% house edge is the rare case where the player is on equal footing with the house.

Place the 6

If you want an even more straightforward system for winning money at craps in less than five minutes, try this step-by-step strategy:

1. Approach the craps table.

2. Place your chips on the layout and tell the dealer that you want to “Place the 6.” The bet can be any size you want, of course, but I suggest $6 as a good starting point (although that’s admittedly an arbitrary choice).

3. Once the bet has been registered, you’ll win if the shooter rolls a 6 before a 7. When this happens, you’ll get back $7 on a $6 wager.

4. Mission accomplished. You’ve managed to win at craps in 5 minutes or less.

Armed with this information and a few basic tips, you can walk into any casino in the world and quickly become a winner at craps. While your chances are bound to fluctuate over the long haul, it’s a great feeling to come in and establish yourself as a force to be reckoned with.

Craps is an intriguing game with over 100 total betting possibilities, which is why I suggest studying up on it as much as possible. While luck can sometimes work in your favor, the ultimate path to sustained success is practice, research, and lots of repetition. For hardcore players, I also suggest looking into dice control, a controversial practice that claims to allow you to consistently influence the outcome of any roll at real-life casinos.

Why Do Online Casinos Offer Signup Bonuses- MINEGAMES

Why Do Online Casinos Offer Signup Bonuses- MINEGAMES

When it comes to signup bonuses, I’ve always been a lot like that great old Thomas Jefferson quote: “Never spend your money before you have it.”

Online casinos offer deposit bonuses to entice people to open accounts, primarily. But the reasons why that enticement works are fascinating in and of themselves.

Think about it – these bonus offers don’t actually promise what people think. These aren’t offers of free money – you have to place wagers (and lose an awful lot of money) to earn the cash specified in the bonus offer.

I think at some level, deep down, most of us know better than to expect something for nothing. Yet online casinos continue to make deposit bonus offers and people continue to line up to claim their share.

Why do online casinos offer these promotions?

Better yet – why do people fall for them?

Signup Bonuses Are the Online Equivalent of Casino Comps

Online casinos use signup bonus offers because casino customers are used to getting free stuff.

There’s a historical precedent for the use of signup bonuses. If you’ve spent any time in a land-based casino, you know that the name of the game is earning comps. A comp can be anything from a free cocktail to a week’s vacation in the penthouse suite. Comps are based on how much you play, how much you lose, and how valuable your business is to the casino.

No online casino can comp you a glass of wine or send you out for a comp’d prime rib buffet, so they use promotions like signup and reload bonuses. To understand the psychology behind the welcome bonus, we should look at why casinos provide comps and how those comps affect behavior.

Psychology tells us that one of the most powerful defense mechanisms we have is the ability to rationalize. Our brains use rationalization to both justify and explain controversial or unexpected events. A teenager who steals $20 from her mom’s wallet may say: “At least I didn’t go out and rob a store or pawn your jewelry.”

Rationalization is the most powerful tonic against cognitive dissonance. When you lose money in the casino, your brain recognizes this as a bad thing and wants you to stop. Then a pit boss send you an offer of a free night’s stay and like magic rationalization sets in. The fact that you’re getting a free hotel room for the night helps you justify the gambling losses. So you play more – and lose more to the casino.

It’s simple – the signup bonus works for the casino’s bottom line because it convinces us that it’s okay to gamble a bit more than we intended.

Signup Bonuses Make Great Copy

Online casinos use promotions because offering your members free money looks good on paper.

When you see the words “$1,000 FREE” it’s hard to stay rational. This one’s a double-edged sword. By offering bonus money for signing up, online casinos tap into that part of our brain that wants to win big. Somehow, these offers also slow down the part of our brain that knows that there’s no such thing as a free lunch.

Think of it this way – you’re reading a review of a casino. The section on promotions indicates that the site’s welcome bonus is worth “up to $10.” Well, when you’re used to reading “up to $500,” or “up to $1,000,” ten bucks looks puny. Our natural tendency is to go for that big $1,000 payday rather than the $10 one. And by the time we’re comparing a free $10 prize to a free $1,000 prize, we’ve all but forgotten that we’re probably not going to win that much, anyway. In fact, we may have totally forgotten about things like wagering requirements.

This doesn’t just extend to reviews – it’s much flashier to run an ad indicating a huge payday than a more modest and attainable one. It also gives the casino a way to create separation between themselves and their competitors. In short, large sign-up offers make for good copy, so they’re here to stay.

Signup Bonuses Are (Excellent) Marketing Tools

Online casinos use deposit bonus offers because a lot of people fall for them.

Yes, people are conditioned to expect something for free from their gaming provider. And yes, people tend to go for big-money offers. But online casinos don’t just use these promos for flashy advertising and to fulfill expectation – they do it because chasing these bonuses requires actual cash play on the casino’s games. This is a marketing tool that also gives users an incentive to gamble more than they may have intended to when signing up.

Not only do potential customers use these figures to compare casinos, the promotions themselves encourage customers to participate in activity that’s profitable for the casino.

I’d say there’s four major casino game designers in the industry. That means that most online casinos look and act pretty much the same. In many cases, the major difference between Casino A and Casino B is the size (and requirements) of their bonus and other promotional deals. Because of the nature of these promo deals, competition is possible along a number of different fronts.

For example, some casinos will make offers with larger and larger top-end amounts to draw in customers. I’ve seen welcome bonus offers that max out in the thousands of dollars. Sometimes casinos will link multiple deposit matches together to form even larger prize amounts. Other sites will incentivize with simpler terms and conditions – like lower wagering requirements.

By giving online casinos some room to differentiate their services from the competition, online casino welcome promos are excellent marketing tools.

Signup Bonuses Don’t Cost Online Casinos Much

Online casinos know that most players aren’t going to earn any bonus cash at all.

These offers come with all sorts of complications, requirements, and time limits. Wagering requirements put the full value of signup bonuses out of the reach of most players. These bonus’ full amounts are so far out of the reach of the average player that the casino makes more money by advertising them than it pays out. More in than goes out equals a profit. That’s basic business acumen.

Casinos know that customers aren’t likely to chase that entire bonus amount and they use this to their advantage.

Online Casinos Might Be Lying About their Promotions

Some (very few) online casinos might be using false advertising to try to entice people to join.

I wanted to mention this last because it’s not all that common and I don’t want to scare people away from online betting. Some betting websites scam their members by paying them extremely late, changing bonus terms to favor the house, or just plain stealing member’s funds.

So why wouldn’t they lie about their welcome bonus offers? We’ve already seen how powerful these offers can be on the human psyche. If a casino isn’t planning to be an above-board operator, why wouldn’t it advertise a promotion it has no intention of deliver?

How Many of These Casino Gambling Games Do You Know How to Play?

How Many of These Casino Gambling Games Do You Know How to Play?

If you walk into any casino in the world, you’re likely to spot a few slot machines and at least one blackjack table. Beyond that, however, the selection can vary widely from one nation to the next.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand slots, which probably accounts for their massive appeal with players ranging from drunken frat boys to chain-smoking widowers. The same can be said for blackjack, as almost everyone has learned the basics of “21” at some point in their life.

Then there are the casino options that people either (a) forgot about, or (b) never knew about to begin with. Learning how to play these less-popular games can be important for the serious gambler, as it exposes you to a whole new world of betting possibilities.

See how many of these casino gambling games you know how to play. A perfect score isn’t going to win you any sort of prize, but it will guarantee that you can walk into any land-based gaming establishment and find something to wager on.

1 – Video Poker

You might be rolling your eyes at this entry, but you’d be amazed at how many players never bother to learn the rules. That’s a shame, as it has the potential to be one of the most profitable games on the casino floor.

Video poker works much like five-card draw poker. The player gets five cards, and they can choose to keep all, some, or none of the cards.

For each card that’s tossed away, they receive a replacement. This gives them their final hand, and the payout is determined based on the strength of that hand.

In most versions of the game, you’ll need a pair of jacks or better in order to get paid. There are dozens of variations of the game, although the royal flush is usually the top hand.

I love this game, as it’s one of the only casino options that give the player a possible edge over the house. In order to take advantage, however, you’ll need to memorize the best possible play for each hand.

2 – Chinese Poker

Also known as “Russian Poker,” this poker variant can be found in casinos throughout Australia, Asia, and the United States. The normal game pits four players against one another.

Each player receives 13 cards, and they have to build three poker hands. One hand has three cards (“the front”), while the other hands are comprised of five cards each (“the middle”; and “the back”).

The back hand must be the highest ranking hand, while the front is the lowest ranking hand. If a player gets a flush on all three hands, they win regardless of what cards their opponents hold.

3 – Keno

The odds on this game are terrible, but it still offers a chance for a big payday. If you’ve ever played the lottery, then you’ve basically played keno.

Players usually select between 3 and 10 numbers ranging from 1 to 80, although some casinos allow for larger wagers. Twenty numbers are then selected at random, and the player is paid based on the number of matches.

Nobody in the history of gambling has managed to get 20 out of 20 matches, although it’s something I’ve always dreamed of. Check out some of the odds for the larger (and more profitable) matches:

  • 16 matches – 1 in 1,496,372,110.872
  • 17 matches – 1 in 90,624,035,964.712
  • 18 matches – 1 in 10,512,388,171,906.553
  • 19 matches – 1 in 2,946,096,785,176,811.500
  • 20 matches – 1 in 3,535,316,142,212,173,800.000
4 – Sic Bo

The name of this Chinese game translates to “precious dice,” and it’s played with three dice. Asian gamblers love this game, although it can also be found in casinos from American to the United Kingdom.

You should have no trouble learning the rules of the game, as they can be summed up in a single sentence. Three dice are rolled, and the player attempts to predict the outcome.

Here are some of the betting options with the lowest house edge:

  • Big – The total will be from 11 to 17 (2.8% house edge)
  • Small – The total will be from 4 to 10 (2.8% house edge)
  • Odd – The total score will be an odd number (2.8% house edge)
  • Even – The total score will be an even number (2.8% house edge)
5 – Casino War

This is the rare casino game where the player can beat the dealer more than 50% of the time. It’s also devilishly simple to learn, and you may have played it as a child under the name “War.”

After placing your wager, both you and the dealer receive a card. If your card is higher, you win. Otherwise, the dealer collects your wager.

If you tie with the dealer, then you have two options. The first option is to surrender and lose half your bet. The second option is to go to war, but you’ll have to double your bet in order to do so.

After three cards are burnt, you and the dealer each receive another card. A higher dealer card results in a player loss. A higher player card results in a payout of the player’s original wager. A tie results in the player being paid based on the doubled wager.

6 – Pai Gow Poker

Instead of Chinese dominos, this game is played with cards. I’ve always been fascinated with this option, although my local casino has never offered it.

The game is played with a normal 52-card deck, but a joker is also added. Up to six people normally play, with each competing against the dealer.

The player receives 7 cards, and they must create a five-card and two-card hand. The rank of the five-card hand must be the higher of the two.

In the five-card hand, the joker can be used to complete a flush or straight. Otherwise, it serves as an ace. In the two-card hand, it always functions as an ace.

If you beat both the dealer’s hands, then you receive a payout based on your wager. If only one of your hands wins, then the bet is considered a push.

7 – Super Fun 21 Blackjack

In a lot of ways, this game is similar to traditional blackjack. There are, however, some key differences. Here are some of the more notable examples:

  • Natural blackjack with diamonds pays 2:1.
  • Natural player blackjack always wins.
  • Six cards totaling 20 automatically wins.
  • Getting five cards or more totaling 21 automatically wins.
  • You can split hands up to four times.
  • You can double down at any time, no matter how many cards you have.

And now for the rule that balances everything out for the house. You knew there was going to be a catch, right? Instead of the normal 3:2 payout, a natural blackjack only pays even money.

8 – Spanish 21

Like Super Fun 21, this game shares many of the same rules with traditional blackjack. There are differences, of course, and these include the following:

  • The ten cards are taken out of the deck, leaving only 48 cards.
  • Ties are always won by the player.
  • You receive a bonus payout if you get a suited 7-7-7 against a dealer 7.
  • Insurance is available and pays 2 to 1, although experienced players know this is a sucker bet.
  • Dealer stands on 17, while he hits on a soft 17 in traditional blackjack.

While most of these rules are advantageous to the player, the removal of the tens from the deck manages to shift the balance back to the casino. This increases the house edge by about 2%, although the overall expected return is still respectable.

9 – Three-Card Poker

You begin the game by making wagers for ante and Pair Plus. The latter is always required, while the former may be optional.

You receive three cards after making your wager, and the dealer gets the same number. If you made an ante bet, you now have the option of folding or making a play bet equal to your original wager. If the player makes a second wager, then his cards are compared to the dealer to determine who has the better three-card hand.

In order to collect on the Pair Plus wager, you’ll need to have at least a pair of twos. You can also collect a payout for a straight, flush, three-of-a-kind, mini-royal, and straight flush.

I’m a big fan of this game due to the speed of play. While the house edge is higher than European roulette and craps, it still offers a superior option to slots, keno, and American roulette.

Casino games come in all shapes and sizes. Some are simple to learn, while others can challenge even veteran players.

The more casino gambling games you learn, the better your odds of becoming a well-rounded player. This knowledge is especially useful to international travelers, as you never know what kind of games a foreign casino might hold until you’ve walked through its doors.

How to Evaluate New Casino Games

How to Evaluate New Casino Games

Casinos are always looking for new games to add to their existing inventory and to replace ones that aren’t earning enough money. New games are introduced all of the time while old ones are phased out.

Every game, whether it’s a table game, a variation of blackjack, a new slot machine or a video poker game has a correct strategy to reduce the house edge as much as possible. The casinos know this and many players know this, even if most of them don’t always use the optimum strategy.

The problem for those of us that want to play the best strategy for every game we play is new games require development of new strategies.

It usually doesn’t take long for a new game to have mathematical strategies derived for it online, but what if you don’t want to wait until that happens? You can use some of the following tips to help you play close to the optimum strategy until you learn a better one.

General New Casino Game Advice

The most important advice you can follow before playing any new casino game is to make sure you completely understand the rules and how the game is played. This is good advice for any casino game whether it is new or not, but never play a game unless you completely understand it.

Slot Machines

Slot machines usually don’t have much of a strategy. You need to make sure you are playing enough coins or lines to be eligible for the top prizes, but most machines don’t have any limitations. I always try to play with a small enough coin denomination that I can activate all of the pay lines. Even if I have to play a penny per line I don’t want to miss a big combination because I didn’t have the pay line activated.

Video Poker

Rarely are new video poker games introduced that can compete with the popularity and low house edge of Deuces Wild or Jacks or Better, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t keep an eye out for the latest and best offerings.

If you know the best strategy for a similar game you can use it to help you play a new video poker game. For example, if you know the best strategy for Jacks or Better you can use it to play Tens or Better (even though it isn’t a new game) and you can probably use it when someone introduces Queens or Better.

When you play new video poker games that have wild cards you can often use Deuces Wild strategy to make playing decisions.

You need to be careful playing too many hands using strategies designed for other games. Just like most of the games listed on this page, short playing sessions probably won’t cost you too much in the way of expected return but extended playing sessions without optimum strategy can start adding up quickly.

Make sure you are playing the maximum coins per hand whenever you play video poker because most machines only unlock the highest payouts (which often include a bonus amount) with maximum wagers. You can always play for less per coin if you need to bet less per hand. For example, you can move down from 1.00 per coin to .25 per coin or .05 per coin.

Table Games

Many times you can play close to optimum strategy on new table games by using common sense. Some games are easier to do this with than others, but just making a few minor mistakes in a single playing session usually won’t cost you too much in the way of expected return.

I remember the first time I played Mississippi Stud poker was before I looked up the best strategy. After I finished at the casino and went home to look at the best strategy I found that I was playing close enough to it that I wasn’t costing myself too much money.

If a game has a dealer way to play a hand like Pai Gow Poker or Baccarat, if you have a choice on how to play your hand you can usually just follow the same rules the dealer uses. This might not get you the maximum possible return but it should get you close.

Consider blackjack basic strategy and how the dealer plays her hand. The dealer rules aren’t the best basic strategy but if you had never played before it will keep you from making any terrible mistakes that will kill you in a short playing session.

Other Games

When casinos introduce games that don’t fit into one of the above categories (slots, video poker or table games) it can be difficult to figure out optimum strategy. Other games tend to have some of the highest house edges so I generally avoid them until I learn the true house edge. Consider how high the house edge is on Keno and other games that don’t fit into normal casino games categories. The edge on Keno is often 25% or more. You might as well buy a lottery ticket if you are going to play most of these types of games.

Side Bets

More and more casino games have side bets. It seems that every new game has at least one side bet available, and some have multiple options. As a general rule side bets tend to be poor wagers. They usually have higher house edges than the main games they are attached to.

I don’t play any side bets until I see the mathematical workings letting me know the expected returns.

Don’t let the fact that you don’t know the best strategy keep you from checking out a new casino game. Use the tips above to give yourself the best chance and don’t play with more money than you’re prepared to lose.

Once you understand how a new game is played there’s no reason to wait to try it out. Just use your common sense, what you already know and smart bankroll management.

4 Powerful Casino Hacks

4 Powerful Casino Hacks

“Gambling: The sure way of getting nothing for something.” – Wilson Mizner

This and many other adages and sayings about the gambling hobby are somewhat true. The majority of the time, casino gambling is a losing proposition.

If you’re heading out for your first casino trip – or if you’ve been gambling for years but want to squeeze a little more out of the experience – follow the simple casino hacks discussed below. Armed with this information, you give yourself a better chance of holding on to some of your bankroll.

1. Find the Best Slot Machines with One Simple Trick

To my mind, the phrase “best slot machines” refers to games that give the casino the smallest advantage. If you’re going to play slots, it’s best to stick to games with a low house edge.

Details about slot machine payback percentages are available online, but the data is scattered and incomplete. Because so many different slot games exist, it would be impossible to research them one-by-one before you hit the casino floor.

So how are you supposed to identify these low-risk slot games?

It’s easy. The larger a slot’s base denomination, the lower the house’s advantage against you. Before you put money into a game, all you have to do is glance at the game’s display case to see how much a single credit is worth.

The size of a single credit can be as low as $0.01 – the so-called “penny slots” you’ve heard so much about. There is no real ceiling for the size of a single credit, since high-roller slots in VIP rooms can be played for hundreds of dollars per spin.

Slot games that accept minimum bets of $1 are going to pay out a little more than games with $0.25 or $0.05 minimum.

2. Combat Casino Fog with a Device You Already Own

It’s a well-known fact that casinos are designed to distract bettors from reality. It’s rare to find windows anywhere near a casino floor. The same goes for clocks. In fact, everything from the casino’s ugly carpets to its seamless ambient music was chosen to manipulate you into focusing on the games and playing them more.

I refer to this as “casino fog,” a combination of symptoms that puts me into a kind of gambling-obsessed stupor. I’ve often wondered just how legal all these manipulations are.

When legislation was passed in the UK intended to combat these tactics, I knew I was onto something. The new law would require that casino gamblers “be aware” of the time while in the casino. Under the law, casino employees would encourage customers to take breaks and remind them of the time, which would be available on prominent clocks.

But we don’t have these laws yet where I do my gambling. There is a better way to combat casino fog. Plus, you already own the device you need to stay sharp on the gambling floor.

Your smartphone is the ultimate anti-fog device. It contains a single piece of vital information – the current time – and a mechanism for alerting you – the alarm clock feature.

The biggest danger of casino fog is that you’ll bet more than you can afford. The casino’s only interest is in forcing you to spend more money. Your only interest should be spending as little as possible.

My suggestion – set the alarm on your phone to go off every thirty minutes while you’re playing. My iPhone has an easy-to-use setting that will repeat an alarm at any interval I want. I set it, and every half-hour I take a break from playing. I get a soft drink, smoke a cigarette (outside, so I can see the sun), and play around on my phone for a minute.

This works. I’ve found that I’m better able to stay on budget if I take these phone-enforced breaks.

3. Stay Sober to Starve the Casino

One of the casino’s most manipulative tactics involve the world’s favorite intoxicant – alcohol. Ever wondered why alcohol flows so freely while you’re gambling?

Even though watered-down drinks are typical in casinos, watery booze is still a powerful mood-enhancer and mind-fogger. I’ve noticed that casinos in Atlantic City are particularly good at getting a drink in my hand, even when I’m sitting in front of a penny slot machine, barely contributing to their profits at all.

Sure, it’s an obvious trick on the part of the casino. But it works.

Let’s say I get a little buzz on and head over to a blackjack table. Generally, I apply basic strategy while I play blackjack, but with a couple ounces of whiskey in me, there’s no way I’m making my sharpest decisions.

Staying sober, just for the duration of your time gambling, is an easy way to keep your composure and prevent over-spending, over-tipping, or poor play.

4. This Secret Part of the Casino Houses the Best Games

Casinos manipulate customers a few different ways. One of the more theatrical tricks used on the floor? Lighting.

The next time you visit a casino, check out the games with bright and colorful lighting displays. They tend to be the games that the casino makes a ton of money on thanks to a high house edge.

The Wheel of Fortune game is a perfect example. It’s often lit up like a Broadway stage and run by an attractive female employee with a low-cut top. Obviously, you want to avoid this type of game.

But you can also use this tactic against the house. Just like how the house highlights their worst games, they also tend to hide their best ones. The best games in the casino are usually found in a practically- unlit area of the floor.

This is mostly true for machine games, though I’ve also seen European Roulette games tucked away in a dark and musky corner. You can also sometimes identify bad bets on table games using this same principle. Check out a craps betting layout – the field bets and “any seven” spaces are the most colorfully-designed.

Stick to the boring, dark, and maybe even a little musky parts of the room to improve your odds.

Progressive Jackpots-MINEGAMES

Progressive Jackpots-MINEGAMES

You may have noticed that most online casinos in the PHILIPPINES differentiate between classic and jackpot slots. But since all slots have a “jackpot prize”, what’s the difference?

The answer is a progressive jackpot. A progressive jackpot is a prize that increases every time somebody plays a slot game. It will keep on rising until a lucky player wins it.

In progressive slot games, a small percentage of every qualifying bet goes toward the jackpot. It can be won at random or by navigating a special bonus game. And the prizes that can be won easily rival those found in your state lottery.

The odds of winning a progressive jackpot over a lottery jackpot are also in your favour. The odds of winning the lottery stand at 1 in 300 million, while your chances of hitting the jackpot in a progressive slot game is around 50 million to one.

Win a progressive jackpot, and you may be in for some astronomical sums of money.

How Do Progressive Jackpot Games Work?

We’ve already alluded to how progressive jackpot games work, but let’s go into some more detail. The main difference between a progressive jackpot and your run-of-the-mill jackpot is that there is no fixed prize in the former. This is what gives you the chance to win big while spending little.

In a progressive jackpot, a percentage of every bet wagered is put towards the jackpot, which keeps growing until one very lucky player wins it. When this happens, the jackpot resets to a seed amount and the process starts all over. The sum, sometimes also called the meter, can climb to huge amounts because it can have thousands of players from multiple slots from all over the world contributing to it.

Progressive Jackpot Win Mechanics

Let’s get down to the nitty gritty of how progressive jackpots work. After a spin, a set of random numbers is chosen. If the right algorithm is picked, the jackpot will be triggered.

However, there is a number of ways you can win a progressive jackpot.

Play the Maximum Stake

Some online progressive slots will only let you win a jackpot if you bet the top stakes possible. However, don’t stress too much if your bankroll doesn’t reach that high. There are plenty of progressive games that offers a few levels of jackpots that cater for lower-stakes players.

High-stakes progressive slots work by awarding you with a ticket when you spin the reels. The more you bet, the more “tickets” you earn. If one of those tickets matches the algorithm after a spin, you win the big jackpot.

Winning a Jackpot at Random

These jackpots may be awarded after any spin. You won’t have to play a special bonus game or hit certain symbols. However, you may have to bet the maximum possible stake in order to qualify.

Hitting Symbol Combinations

To hit this progressive jackpot, you must line up certain symbols on a designated payline. For example, the jackpot may trigger if you line up five special symbols on the 15th payline. Get the winning combination and collect the biggest jackpot.

Playing a Bonus Game

Many online progressive slots at the best slots sites include a special bonus round that can be triggered during the base game. You may have to spin a prize wheel to determine your jackpot size or pick cards from a selection available on your screen. You will usually have to match three or four cards to win the corresponding jackpot prize.

Must-Drop Jackpots

Several online progressive slots feature must-drop jackpots. These are programmed to trigger by a strict deadline. Therefore, they usually attract more money as the deadline approaches and more people will be playing the game at the same time.

Random Number Generators

It’s important to understand random number generators (RNGs) when you play a progressive jackpot slot. All online slots philippines are governed by RNGs that ensure fair slot play every time.

Progressive slots also work on RNGs. They determine when a jackpot or bonus game is going to be triggered. So even if a jackpot unclaimed for weeks, there’s no reason it will suddenly be ready to drop if there isn’t a must-drop jackpot deadline.

How Big Can Progressive Jackpots Get?

Progressive jackpots can reach eye-watering levels if a top prize goes unclaimed. Not to mention, the more accessible a slot is, the bigger the potential for large jackpots.

A progressive jackpot that hasn’t been won in a long time will usually attract the attention of lots of players. This means that the jackpots will increase very quickly towards the end.

Finding a Progressive Jackpot

Most online casinos organise their slots by type. For example, a casino might feature a separate “Jackpot Slots” tab where you’ll find all progressive jackpot slots in one place. If there isn’t a dedicated section for progressive slots, a good tip is to look for the jackpot section and then look for the biggest jackpots.

Virtually all casinos will display the current jackpot meter for eligible games in their lobby. It’s easy to view what games have the biggest jackpots at any time. You can also view a list of big winners on the casino that day.

You will find more information on progressive slots with our exclusive guide, where you’ll discover reviews and information on the best casinos offering jackpot slots. We’ll even show you some of the best promo codes so you can make a deposit and claim a bonus when you sign up.

Types of Progressive Jackpots

In a casino, you will typically find three types of progressive jackpots. The jackpot sizes can vary depending on how many players contribute to it and how many different machines are linked up.

Standalone Jackpots

A standalone jackpot is reserved to just one machine in the casino. This means that it is not linked to other slot machines and doesn’t form part of a wider network.

Local Jackpots

Local jackpots, also known as “in-house” jackpots, are grouped together between multiple machines in one land-based casino setting. The machines might be connected in one bank or spread across the casino floor. At an online casino, a local jackpot might be linked across four or five different games. Some local jackpots are also spread across multiple machines in casinos that are owned by the same operator.

Network Progressive Slots

Network progressive slots offer the largest jackpots. They are also called “wide-area” progressives and are linked across multiple casinos. In fact, the same wide-area jackpot may be offered across different brands of slot. However, qualifying bets all feed into the same big jackpot. The chances of winning a network jackpot are small, but the prizes can be huge.

Chances of Winning a Progressive Jackpot

The good news is that with a progressive jackpot, you have the chance of turning a small stake into a five-, six-, or even seven-figure prize.

The flip side is that the odds of winning the top jackpot can be in the millions to one. For example, the chances of winning the Mega Moolah slot is nearly 50 million to one. Although as we’ve mentioned, this is still a much better probability that winning the national lottery.

However, some Vegas progressive jackpot slots have even worse odds. Some games offer odds of 1 in 150 million to 1 in 300 million.

Just like the lottery, players will always try to defy the odds to take down a progressive jackpot, and that’s part of the thrill. So set your bank roll and get playing at the best paying online casinos, and who knows? Your name might just be on the next multimillion-pound payout!

The Benefits of Gambling: Positive Effects on Health, Society and Economy- MINEGAMES

The Benefits of Gambling: Positive Effects on Health, Society and Economy- MINEGAMES

The benefits of gambling are favorable, advantageous effects of gambling activities. The positive effects of gambling can be further broken down to the benefits of gambling that affect people’s social lives, health and the economy.

The majority of scientists focus on the negative effects of gambling consumption, but certain scientists (Blackman, A., Browne, M., Rockloff, M. et al. Contrasting Effects of Gambling Consumption and Gambling Problems on Subjective Wellbeing. J Gambl Stud 35, 773–792 (2019). have studied a person’s wellbeing taking gambling involvement into consideration.

Social benefits from gambling are the positive effects of gambling activities on the social lives and social relationships of people involved in betting.

Health benefits of gambling are the positive effects on people’s health and wellbeing while they are engaged in gambling activities, placing bets offline or at online betting sites.

Economic benefits of gambling are the positive consequences of gambling seen in the commercial aspects of human life. The benefits from gambling on the economy can be seen in trading, business and industrial progress.

Bellow, we will discuss in more detail the specific benefits from betting and casino gambling, including these positive effects of placing online or offline bets:

  • Improving players’ happiness level
  • Positive effects on players’ intellect
  • Meeting new people becomes easier
  • Stimulating the local economy
  • Enhancing fun experiences
  • Helping people earn additional income
  • Collecting gambling taxes by the government
  • Availability of jobs in the gambling industry
  • Reducing stress
  • Improvements in concertation
1. Gambling Makes Players More Content

Players are happier when they are gambling – it is one of the arguments used in favor of the attitude that there are positive effects of gambling, not just negative ones.

Players feel more content when they are winning in gambling, which is why such activity can have a positive effect on the bettor’s happiness. The player has a sense of achievement while making successful bets and that makes them happier.

Also, physiological effects on players are known. The human body produces adrenalin and endorphins and that makes them feel excited and uplifted. This happens even if the player is losing, not only when they are winning bets. The presence of the feel-good hormone, dopamine, has also been established and that means our body experiences pleasure over the course of a gambling session.

2. Upgrades Intelligence

The idea that gambling can help improve a person’s intelligence is one of the standpoints of people who believe in the benefits of betting.

Because certain gambling games like blackjack or poker require careful strategizing, it is not wrong to argue that gambling can help someone improve their intelligence.

While gambling, a player has to think ahead, make potential scenarios for different situations and handle decision making in a more complex and straightforward way.

3. Helps to Meet New People

Gambling improves the chances of meeting new people with similar interests, which is why it can be seen as an activity with a positive result.

To meet new people, players will often join casino websites or visit physical casino venues, as well as sports betting sites and land-based establishments.

In a gambling environment, offline or online, players can exchange their emotions, make comments, build strategies together, compete, and that positively affects their socializing skills and results.

4. Boosts Local Economies

Gambling can boost local economies if it is regulated and legalized. Establishing land-based casinos and bookmaker venues means the local economy will benefit from the taxes and the jobs that gambling institutions within it provide.

Casino owners and employees have direct economic benefit from having a gambling business, but a casino near a restaurant or a hotel indirectly improves turnover for the owners and workers in catering and hospitality in the local community. Even local car repair shops may get more work because of the flow of casino visitors in town.

For example, Oklahoma openly advertises casinos and gambling venues as travel destinations, along with suggestions for lodging, nightlife options, spas and local attractions. The minimum gambling age in Oklahoma is 18 years old.

5. Gambling is a Fun Experience for People

People experience fun when they gamble. They enjoy gambling for its dynamics, unpredictability and the opportunity to show their skills, wit, willingness to take risks and be rewarded.

In their free time, people want to have fun and not dread overwork, assignments, global issues or family troubles.

Playing casino games is a great distraction from reality and its harsh experiences. In addition, playing games at a casino makes people energized due to the release of endorphins. During this time, people are in a state of play and that wards off depression.

Casinos also encourage and reward players for referring friends, which can generate another fun experience within the experience of gambling itself – bonding with existing friends while betting.

6. Earning Additional Money

It is possible to earn money while gambling, which is why many people gamble to increase their income.

Playing gambling games means investing money and potentially winning money in return. Placing a bet does not always result in a win, but it can result in a win bigger than the value of the initial bet. That is why casino players and sports bettors gamble, to win extra money.

Gambling is a legitimate way of obtaining additional cash. Very few people strike it rich and win millions from gambling, which is why it is recommended for players to treat gambling as an additional way of winning extra funds and not a main source of income to sustain a living.

7. Government Charges Taxes

When gambling is legalized and regulated, the government can collect taxes for gambling services and earn profit from gambling.

In a regulated gambling market, the government levies a tax on casinos. They also charge fees for obtaining a casino license and then for the renewal of this license every year. The same applies to sports betting operators, or bookies.

Therefore, legalizing and regulating gambling helps to increase revenue for the government. The increased revenue earned from gambling can be used to improve infrastructure, the health system or education.

8. Jobs in the Casino Industry

Gambling as a business venture can provide jobs for hosts, hostesses, dealers, software developers and designers, pit bosses, people in catering, accounting and security.

Having more jobs and position vacancies for various experts and trained individuals in the field of casino services, improves the economic stability of a community.

For example, The Australasian Gaming Council provides “A Guide to Australasia’s Gambling Industries – Chapter 7: The Contribution of Australia’s Gambling Industries” which presents the contribution of the Australian gambling industry to GDP, employment and tourism thanks to legislative schemes, charitable donations and projects.

9. Stress Reduction as a Result of Gambling

Gambling is thought to provide stress relief for gamblers, as it drives them away from obligations, chores, tasks, and problems.

Being detached from the negativity of reality can help a person recharge their batteries and that is precisely what gambling provides. When engaged in an entertaining, playful activity like gambling, the min relaxes from burdening thoughts and concerns.

It is scientifically proven that during gambling, the human body produces endorphins (A summary of van Holst, R.J., van den Brink, W., Veltman, D.J, Goudriaan, A.E. (2010). Brain imaging studies in pathological gambling. Current Psychiatry Reports, 12(5), 418-425.). These hormones are the body’s natural pain relievers. They act against the feeling of stress and discomfort.

10. Gambling Makes Concentration Better

Gambling games often require players to be focused and prepared, which improves their concentration levels.

Players can improve their ability of determination and establish focus by gambling regularly. Gamblers have a sharp mental system of risk and reward. Playing gambling games is a kind of solving mental tasks, just like with any other type of game.

Sharp concentration is something few non-gamers have. Gambling can polish math skills and improve brain efficiency, as various neurological networks within the brain are stimulated during a gambling session.

Is Gambling Good for Your Health?

Yes, gambling can be good for your health because it provides a feeling of happiness and it relieves stress that accumulates from daily challenges. It is one of the personal benefits of gambling.

Is Gambling Good for the Economy?

Yes, gambling can be beneficial for the economy because it provides an additional source of revenue for the authorities, if it is legalized and regulated. Another economic benefit from legalized gambling is more jobs in the industry. For instance, bookmakers, trainers, breeders, jockeys, and racing stewards all have jobs thanks to horse race betting.

Is Gambling Good for the Society?

Yes, gambling can be good for society because it enables people to meet and create meaningful relationships over their passion for gambling. Gambling’s social benefits go further than just that, since regular gambling can teach personal accountability.

What Are the Harming Effects of Gambling?

The harming effects of gambling are the negative consequences of gambling activities. The harms and effects of gambling can include various adverse influences on the lives of gamblers, such as problem gambling, emotional distress, issues with work or family, serious financial problems and, in extreme cases, fall into crime.

Yes, it is useful to legalize gambling because it provides the opportunity for governments to impose a tax on gambling activities. The tax benefits of sports betting and the tax benefits of casino gambling secure a bigger revenue for the governing bodies which can later be used for suitable purposes such as building schools, hospitals or roads.

Is Sports Gambling More Beneficial Than Online Casino Gambling?

No, sports gambling is not necessarily more beneficial than gambling in casinos or online casino websites.

From a perspective of the economy, it makes no difference whether a person is betting on sports or casino games, as long as the activity is regulated and the government gets their tax and the employee gets their salary.

In terms of personal benefits from gambling, betting on poker is more beneficial than betting on slots if a person wants satisfaction and happiness from applying skill and mastery. Happiness levels are lower with slots, because people are can get easily detached from slots, whereas in a game of poker a player has to be engaged through the round.

Brief History Of Online Slots

Brief History Of Online Slots

Even the slightest mention of the word casino triggers images of vast gaming floors filled with glamorous video slot machines. That is the charm of land-based casinos. Slots are the most popular casino games and account for a large chunk of revenue. Known as fruit machines in the UK and Australia, video slots have come a long way since inception.

Slots machines were introduced in the early 19th century and featured a simple 3-reel design with a few symbols. The Liberty Bell was among the first logos to be used and remains a favorite among classic slot enthusiasts. Although a 5-reel slot came into existence over the years, 3-slot fruit machines are evergreen.

The early slot machines were simple and offered a single payline. They were popular in bars across the United States and offered modest winnings like bubble gums or a few cents. Thanks to classic slot machines, fruit symbols became a popular figure in modern video slots.

The first electromagnetic video slot was unveiled in 1963 and offered players a maximum payout of 500 coins. This was the first time that slot machines used a graphical theme on the screen instead of mechanical reels. With the introduction of software, game developers were able to throw more symbols, paylines, and reels into the mix, while having greater control over the payouts.

It was due to this innovation that modern video slots have multiple paylines. These can come in various shapes and sizes, including horizontal, vertical, zig-zag, or diagonal patterns. Unless the game has a single payline, players can choose to bet on multiple paylines by increasing the bet before every spin.

Online casino first appeared during the 1990s with the evolution of computers and the internet, which took the world by storm. While improvements to video games introduced innovative video slots, online casinos brought the experience closer to the average audience. Among the primary benefits of virtual casinos, accessibility ranks at the top of the chart.

With mobile devices getting popular over time, the online casino experience was accentuated even further. Besides bringing video slots at our fingertips, the online casino experience offers greater perks compared to its land-based counterparts. Greater RTP and lower buy-ins are a few basic examples.

The future looks even more promising as Virtual Reality is poised to enter the frame. Once that happens, video slots will never be the same again. However, people missing physical casinos can make do with the live casino experience for the moment. The setup uses an array of sensors, cameras, and software magic to replicate the feeling on the smartphone or desktop.

When we look back and reminisce the evolution of video slots, we realize the game progressed over centuries to reach its current position. And from where we’re seeing, the future looks promising too!
